First off, this is a great product for any Doctor Who fan. Who wouldn't love to wield a sonic screwdriver and pretend to be sonic things in a game (or in real life, for that matter)? It works very well with the Wii or Wii U, as well as any Wii Remote accessory (Wii Motion Plus, Nunchuck, etc.), although it does look a little odd with a small white block attached to the end of the screwdriver. And of course the batteries are rechargeable, meaning you no longer have to beg for AA batteries. It also holds a charge very well. I haven't measured how long they run, but the 12 hour claim seems correct. The only downside is that this controller isn't well suited for games that require you to hold it sideways (like New Super Mario Bros. games). ). Its larger size and odd shape make it a bit awkward to hold, and the cross is a bit sticky. This isn't a deal breaker by any means, and it's certainly possible to play similar games with this remote, but you can go back to the standard Wii Remote. Considering how few games use this control scheme, it shouldn't affect your decision much.
