I've worn these shirts for years and I usually buy from a local supplier but there are many steel mills and oil refineries near me. , the demand for them is constantly growing and the price is skyrocketing. Now in my town they charge upwards of $60 for these things, and that's a ridiculous premium. Don't be fooled, these shirts can actually withstand a lot of fire when hit. They're not made of kindling, of course, but if you do a lot of overhead welding, or burn out rivets, or do other flare welding where the molten metal actually flies around, you'll burn yourself. Slag does not erode on them, as on "greenβ refractory equipment. They are sufficient to meet the "safety requirements" for FR clothing on most job sites where required, but are not very effective in terms of actually keeping the fire out of you. Finally, the RASCO FR shirts I bought tended to shrink like crazy after a wash and I had to buy them 3-4 sizes bigger than what I was actually wearing to get the right size after washing. . They appear to be properly pre-shrunk, so you should be able to purchase them in your expected size.
