Review on TCL Class Dolby Vision Smart by Juzer Rashid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing image quality and panel uniformity; a bit heavy

Have been using it for gaming and watching movies for a few days. It's amazing. Don't be swayed by the skeptics. The colors are mottled and bright. I swear in HDR the glare is brighter than the headlights of a Range Rover or BMW. The blacks are also black, like obsidian ink. Yes, there's a slight glow when the scene consists of total darkness and one or more bright objects, but the way this TV's processing works along with lots of dark areas almost looks like a natural glow or reflected light coming from the object. The user interface is slick and intuitive, and all HDMI connections and other processing work flawlessly, unlike the previous ViZio Quantum XI, which was sold because everything either just broke or glittered like a maniac (which was 4K 120 fps, which never used in games). or shows). Maybe I just got lucky in the lottery, or maybe TCL QA is that good, but my panel also shows perfect, flawless gray, white, and black uniformity. LG, Sony and Samsung are likely to feel under a lot of pressure. Please do yourself a favor and just pull the trigger and buy this TV. If I had to deduct 1/4 star, it would be because of the enormous height/weight. This thing is VERY heavy and you will need heavy tools and fasteners and two very tall and strong men to successfully mount it on the wall. Before that we had a good BenQ projector and a 100 inch setup and were a bit excited. Now she's glued to the TV with this TCL 85R745 and plays all night like a teenager playing crack. lol. Breakdown: Brightness: The HDR backlight is blindingly bright, it's amazing Color accuracy: Impeccable in Movie, HDR Dark and Dolby Vision Dark Motion modes: Much, much better than the Vizio Quantum X. On par with Samsung. Oil on all content except a little stuttering in 24fps movies - about the same as my old Samsung Q85. For some reason my smaller X950H feels better in this regard. But overall, this TCL kills it. Of course, there is some flowering when the scene consists of a single bright object around a sea of complex colors. it is darkness. But the way its dimming algorithm works, as well as the large number of dimming zones, it seems that a bright spot still emits a slight natural glow. Very beautiful. Board uniformity: perfect. Zero DSE on my panel. But maybe I'm just lucky. Or TCL will do good quality control of this model. Reliability: On par with my smaller X950H. Leagues are better than the Vizio Quantum X, which I had to trade in for endless bugs. Games: This THX certified game mode is no joke. Absolutely no lag and perfect PQ. I chose the Vizio Quantum X first because it was 4k 120hz. Then I realized that I don't play games that even support it. So it's not a problem at all. So yes. Just get it. The best of all worlds. It's really heavy so it takes some big strong guys to install it. And find some studs in the wall - not sure drywall anchors will hold this monster up.
