Review on Lenovo ThinkVision M14 Anti Glare Monitor, 1920X1080 Screen by Thomas Tchida

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Don't be limited by the lack of Thunderbolt/DisplayPort ports in your computer's alt mode!

I bought it to have a second screen for my laptop when I travel for work. It works great for this purpose: I plug it into a Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C port on my Dell laptop and away I go. I recently built a gaming PC at home and thought I could use this screen as a secondary monitor. None of the USB-C ports on my tower support DisplayPort Alternate Mode, so I bought this bi-directional DP USB-C cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081VK1KHV/ref=ewc_pr_img_2?smid = ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc =1 (DO NOT BUY the cable sold as "USB C to DisplayPort" it will not work :) I connect the DisplayPort end of the cable to my tower and the USB C end to the left port on the screen. I then use the screen's right USB-C port to power the screen via the USB-C wall adapter. It's not the prettiest solution, but it works and makes the screen more than just a paperweight, if I'm home (Note: which cable goes to which port seems to matter. I couldn't get it to work with a DP cable in the right port and a power cable in the left.) If there are future versions of the product, I'd love support see for using a monitor in vertical mode. You can use this vertical if you're only using one of the USB-C ports, but you'll likely end up pressing buttons and fiddling with brightness settings or even turning them off. I think a simple redesign of the buttons could allow for vertical use, and at this price point the screen could actually be a little more feature-rich. A high-pitched squeak can also be heard in energy-saving mode. The simple solution is to just turn off the screen I think. Just small things related to quality of life that downgrades it from 5 stars to 4 stars.
