I bought this for my elderly mother. She's a little short, so her short hips prevent her from sitting on the couch with her back all the way back. As a result, she always slumped. This "pad" fixes this problem by compensating for sag. In fact it fixed the problem and I had to remove some of the foam. This is a great feature! The armrests are a bit oversized (remember, I use them on the couch, not bad) so they take up a disproportionate amount of space. I'll have to experiment with removing foam there as well. The only negative I can think of is that I wish the foam access hole was a few inches bigger. Otherwise it's a great backrest and I'm glad I found it!
