I have a large head and I have problems with glasses with short temples. I was fed up with reading glasses slipping off my nose and falling to the floor. I also wanted glasses that would stay around my neck when I didn't need them. The main idea behind this type of glasses is that they are held together by magnets in the bridge of the nose. You disconnect or connect them as needed. With this model, the arms can be extended to adjust the size. Mine is almost completely gone. They work very well, but there are some caveats. First, you can't carry them around unless you want to wear them around your neck. Also, they don't really fold - so don't fit in a briefcase, backpack, etc. Otherwise, they look good and are comfortable to wear once you get used to them.
