They keep my hands warmer than when I'm not wearing anything, but my fingers still burn/tingle after walking outside for about half an hour in 40 degrees and a light breeze . No problem with my smartphone, but the gloves themselves are a little stiff and slippery in the grip area so I didn't feel too secure holding the phone, but I was able to use the phone all the way to the touchscreen without any further issues.
