This docking station works great as a switch and additional USB ports. However, as a standalone plug-in dock for your laptop, it doesn't work at all. The GoodOne power connector allows you to turn your laptop on and off without opening the laptop lid. There are also additional USB 3 ports if you need more ports. A bad DVI and DisplayPort (that's right, DisplayPort, not HDMI) will cause the video on the monitor to be intermittently out of sync when streaming video from almost any video source. - YouTube, Netflix, Xfinity, Leawo, etc. Investigating this issue found a known video syncing issue on the Lenovo support site and there are no plans to fix it. The fact that this dock has a DisplayPort connection should tell you it's old technology. The ethernet port keeps losing sync with the switch while the other 4 PCs connected to the switch have no problem. The ethernet port on the laptop works fine, but the ethernet port on the docking station does not. Other Thoughts I purchased this particular item after chatting online with a Lenovo representative who told me it was the right dock for my Lenovo laptop and that it would work. I think this allows me to turn on the laptop without opening the lid. But video and Ethernet broke the deal. There is a workaround for that: connect the HDMI from the monitor to the laptop and connect the laptop's ethernet to the switch. Now you have an expensive switch with few other features. So if I'm going to make all these other connections just to hold the power button with the lid closed, why bother. This question.
