We needed a soft, light-activated bathroom night light that was discreet, inviting and would go well with our white bathroom. The color of the light was important, as was the brightness. I have used an LED candle which has worked well but changing batteries over time is a turn off. After trying many options, I took a closer look. That is amazing! When it's off, it looks very subtle (hooray!), but when it's on, it emits a perfect glow. BUT the light sensor has serious drawbacks: it works well when it's getting dark, but it doesn't pick up the light efficiently, so even with a window in an all-white bathroom, it just won't turn itself off in ambient daylight with very bright light from bedroom lamps or more direct Sun exposure in the afternoon. That's a bummer: we have to use a manual switch to turn it off. I've had other light sensor night lights in the same room that had flawless light sensors and I know they can fix it and they should fix it. So I downgraded my rating to 3* as this is a key feature. It's really cool that it has a dimmer so you can adjust the brightness a bit to your liking. We find it adjusts to the ideal light level to safely go to the bathroom without disturbing the mood of sleep. Ignore the ugly yellow light they show on product photos! I think they did this to differentiate this model from the "Soft White" model also sold. The seller calls it "amber"; I find it gives off a very attractive soft warm light. Another model is called "soft white”, which actually technically means brighter/brighter/less warm in LED terminology; This one is also dimmable and can be useful for people who need a brighter night light. But coming back to that light, I love its gentle warmth. The "bubble" design of the transparent acrylic element is simple and very subtle. And the bubbles are functional: they help project light. The light pool is well rounded - casts soft light on the wall, ceiling and into the room - just light, no 'patterns' (there are others that cast patterns if you like). Good price. An LED lamp lasts for years and only costs a few cents a year. And also . there are two packs. Well! Highly recommended! But I really wish it had a better light sensor!
