Review on 🚰 Klean Kanteen Kid Classic 12 oz. Sport Bottle: Durable and Safe Hydration for Active Kids by Bryan Kishore

UPDATE - When I purchased this product, there was no overflow cover. Just a sports cap. My review is for the sports cap option only. Unfortunately the title refers to a leakproof cap when it should be a different product or better definition. I bought this bottle on a lightning deal primarily to get the cap. I have a large bottle of Klean Kanteen with a plain screw cap (green, btw). I take 12 ounces. The bottle is now a replacement. However, the lid is what makes or breaks this product. The bottle is simply an uninsulated metal container. Most reviews seem to discuss leakage and use by children. I wouldn't recommend it as the perfect water bottle for kids. It's not easy to open and if you're not careful you can 'spit out' the contents as the pressure is released when you open it. There are three possible sources of leaks. The bottle cap itself is a simple, silicone-like washer. Screwed tightly, if the bottle neck is not damaged, it will not leak. The second place is a tiny flapper valve that allows air to enter the bottle but not exit. If you don't know about it, you can damage or damage it. Then the valve is in the cap, so with proper care it should not leak. Then comes the mouthpiece itself. If you're a cyclist, this is the same type of valve used on water bottles. You open it with your teeth to drain the liquid and close it to seal it. It is made of rubber and may eventually fail with prolonged use or rough treatment. That's why I don't recommend it for children. There is a balance between enough force to open it and too much force to break it. There is a simple plastic cap that fits over the mouthpiece to keep dirt out, but not to prevent leakage. So far I've found it to work well and there haven't been any issues or leaks. I am happy with this purchase.
