Others have this lamp mounted horizontally above the cabinet door; I installed 2 more vertically, one on each side of the door near the floor. They are perfect for illuminating things you keep on the floor in the shade of your clothes. The motion sensor works as it should: turns on when you open the door and while moving towards it; turns off a few seconds after exiting. As others have said they get the job done but lighter would be better; and opening the battery cover is difficult until you know what to press to release the latch. Use a small metal pusher (e.g. the end of a screwdriver); fingers just don't work. The disadvantage of the vertical application is that the mounting keyhole only goes in one direction. On the left side of my closet, gravity works to lock the screw in the keyhole slot, but on the right side it works to loosen the screw from the keyhole slot. I got around this by reducing the distance between the centers of the screws, but a double sided keyhole would be better. A paper template for locating the screws on the wall also works.
