I recommend getting a ruler so you can get an idea of what 10mm diameter will look like. For the average adult, these are haggis, meaning they should touch the bottom of the earlobe when worn, with no gap between the inside of the hoop and the earlobe. If this is the style you want, 10mm is usually the best estimate for the distance between the piercing and the earlobe. The grommets are quite flimsy so at first glance they may appear fragile or you may be warned that the clasp is not secure. However, once you put them on you will find that they are quite secure.
