Review on ๐Ÿ“ฆ Bigso Silvia Organizational Storage Box in Canvas Gray: Durable Fiberboard with Leather Handle, Ideal for Stylish Organization, 5.9 x 6.5 x 11.6 Inches by Erin Abbott

Great for keeping notes and scraps of fabric (despite the warnings)

I have many of these original Bigso boxes despite the following issues. Silvia is made out of a weird old cardboard mix that smells like something that might set off a warning among Californians. The material isn't super durable either; Lids always break first after less than a dozen uses. The material can also become soiled by moisture or dirty hands. But Silvia is so well proportioned and beautifully colored that I put up with it all and try not to breathe too much around her. The dimensions are great for storing notepads on which you've written things you know you'll achieve one day. And torn magazine pages folded in half. Ditto for chunky quarters or other pieces of fabric if you are a quilter. For long-term storage of the very special fabric, I line the box and lid with buffered acid-free tissue paper. Then I line THAT lining (or wrap the bundle of fabric) with several layers of unbuffered, acid-free fabric. Buffering materials can migrate, and most conservation sources recommend unbuffered paper for cotton and buffing paper for more organic materials (i.e., already dead but attached to something previously living and breathing) such as silk, wool, and leather. lost many collectibles due to improper storage. These boxes also prevent sunlight from damaging the fabric, which is a terrible thing many stash collectors discover too late.
