I think buying/installing the maximum amount of RAM your computer can handle is the cheapest way to upgrade your computer. I have a 5 year old Dell Dimension E310 desktop that was running on the original 512MB of RAM. It kept crashing, taking forever to start up/shut down, and opening the Internet Explorer window could take several minutes. I bought 2 of these, installed them (it only takes a few minutes) and it's like having a brand new computer. Before you buy a new computer, consider upgrading your RAM if you haven't already. I haven't had any issues with ValueRAM and will be buying more soon to get the most out of the RAM on our laptop.
