Review on ProElife Premium Ultra Thin Silicone Keyboard Cover Skin For MacBook Pro With Touch Bar 13&#34 by Zachary Ester

Does it block the keyboard backlight? Show the cork! :(

I've used keyboard cases with my MacBook Pros for years - and they've saved my bacon more than once with a bad coffee mug. I didn't want to risk it with this new MacBook Pro, just as much costs like a used car so I was excited to try this keyboard case Pros: + Silicone, not TPU like my previous keyboard cases TPU ages over time and looks, shall we say, not keyboard-ready, sideways from the keyboard and has really disappeared on the keyboard Cons: - Would probably be good as a splash guard in the CENTER of the keyboard Edges are questionable due to the 'new' and 'bold' keyboard design - Virtually no channel around the keyboard for a protective case, take a break My previous MBP keyboard cases have a handy 2-4mm wide chute that you slide into that protects you from splashes around the edges (the ones you actually get!) This cover is essentially flat and doesn't even try to fill the narrow channel along the edges - it just rests on top of the keys. I don't know if this is an issue that more precise molding can fix - I hope so. - "Caps Lock" LED placement has been disabled - sort of halving the LED. No eye-catcher - SHOW STOPPER: Black keycaps with SOLID WHITE INK lettering. This means that every key is completely opaque and you've effectively turned off the keyboard backlight. For me, this "doesn't work" as it's one of my favorite features - typing in a comfortable chair in near total darkness. So it had to be returned. :(As it can't really protect against spills on the whole keyboard and is opaque - it doesn't suit me. Three stars for a reasonable price and partial protection. I'll wait for a better version - and it will any day.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Factor set
