Review on πŸ› Johnson's Baby Bubble Bath: Gentle Skin Care for Babies, Paraben-Free & Pediatrician-Tested, 27.1 fl. oz by Amanda Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Smells good, baby's skin is soft too

Benefits:1. Not greasy2 Very mild scent and not overpowering3. Skin looks good Cons: 1. Not really. Summary: We use this as a night ritual for our 6 month old daughter every night after her bath and have been doing this since she was about 6 weeks old (we have done the same for her older brother who is now 5 and still uses a gets this lotion at night). Does the smell of lavender really help her sleep better compared to unscented lavender lotion? Well, one could argue about that. The "clinically proven" claim for a lotion bottle claiming to help babies sleep is likely based on multiple studies showing a slight decrease in cortisol levels in humans (and children in a J&J-funded study) when exposed to the scent of exposed to lavender. A decrease in cortisol is said to correlate with a relaxed state, thereby helping you fall asleep and giving you better sleep. That being said, we've been applying this lotion like crazy to our picky baby aged 2.5 months to 4 months in vain attempts to get him to sleep with no significant increase in the time between nightly feedings, and my wife and I was zombies during that time 10 weeks. As if by magic, the baby started sleeping for 5 hours at a time at 4 months old, and my wife and I regained some sanity. Now at 6 months, the baby sleeps 10 hours at a time. Can I say that applying this lotion at night has something to do with it? No, except that it softened her skin. And the child sleeping longer is just the natural course of things as it grows. But the pleasant smell of lavender does not harm anything. and perhaps the main purpose is for the soothing lavender scent to waft towards the baby while the jaded parent holds it, helping to soothe the poor parent who has to get up every two hours to feed/soothe the crying, fussy baby.

Pros
  • Clinically proven softness baby bath contains Johnson's No More Tears formula, so this bubble bath is as gentle on baby's eyes as plain water
Cons
  • Not bad
