With the advent of Bluetooth (and the loss of headphone jacks in recent iPhones) wireless headphones became a rage . I was absolutely ready to jump on the bandwagon and when I saw these puppies show up in my Vine feed I grabbed them right away. First, let me remind you: They have a list price of $79.99 and Revain is selling them for (5/10/18) $62.16. That's more than I've ever paid for a single pair of headphones (and most of my favorites were under $20), so I expect them to be AWESOME. My boss recommended me the best $19.99 Otium wireless sport headphones with IPX7 mic (and he's a huge music junkie, so he won't recommend crap), so I'm expecting JVC to throw me out of the water. The pairing instructions were pretty straightforward. ; I found them a bit more difficult to fit in my ear, although it made sense once I figured it out. I liked that they come with more ear tips than your standard 3 pairs - there are probably a good 5 pairs to choose from. I just used the default as they always work best. What was also cool was the magnet in the actual part of the headphones (which maybe prevents tangling?). The crime happened when I turned on the music. It sounded TERRIBLE. I played Charlie Puth's "Attention" and then LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" (no judgment mkay!) and every moment I listened made me want to stop listening. The entire bass sounded dull, muddy and absolutely booming, only the highest, tinny passages remained. Then I tried listening to Rihanna's remix of "Please Don't Stop the Music" but had to give up because the bass sounded like someone hitting a trash can. I haven't tried this with an audio book; Maybe it would be better to listen to people's voices without music. I don't know about the battery life either; If I can wear them while running (maybe I'm running fast enough not to hear terrible bass), I might be able to check out the battery life. I'll say one thing: I recently spent $6 on a pair of wired headphones with Marshall's sound quality and felt cheated. If I paid more than sixty dollars for it I would be furious. Yes, they're wireless, but I'd rather risk buying my boss' cheap $20 set than pay three times more for it. Or redeem the TWO wired ones I also got through Vine, the RHA MA390 Universal. UPDATE 05/17/2018. Since then I've been using them to listen to audiobooks while running and it's worked fine. When running, the headphones stay on (a natural requirement since they're sports headphones) and the sound is fine for an audio book - no problem. Still, I wouldn't spend $60 on a pair of headphones that I only use to listen to audiobooks while running. UPDATE 5/25/2018: I gave these to my sister and she loved them. She believes that there are no problems with the sound at all. I have no idea what that means, but apparently there's something along the lines of "your mileage may vary," so I'm upvoting the review to show I like the product. UPDATE 06/01/2018: My sister mentioned this morning that they were quite picky - sometimes if you didn't use them perfectly the sound was tinny and weak. She's replaced her regular headphones with a smaller pair - not sure if they're soundproof or not - and hopes this will help her deal with the difficulties she's facing.
