First, I would like to give credit to photographer Dominic Harris. The photos in this book are great and help explain the use of sewing machines. I think one person said Ms Huxell's explanation of how the sewing machine worked was disappointing. She says to read your manual. I think she wanted you to meet her car. Modern cars tend to have all the fancy stuff to some extent and that's explained throughout the book. As you may have already figured out, I'm a male and of retirement age, so you can ask what interests you about sewing. Well, that summer my family had three children, and one day I was at Wal-Mart and noticed the Simplicity sample book. I thought making baby clothes would be fun so I picked up a used Singer and needed a book to show me what to do with that piece. I didn't have the manual, but you can see most Singers manuals for free on their website. I haven't started sewing yet, but hopefully this winter. Now I'm busy with work.
