We bought a Virginia Boys chopping board out of raw walnut and waxed it. The first thing I noticed was the smell of wax. It smelled very clean, fresh and organic. I love it! I was hesitant to spend more than $20 on wax but after seeing how a little helps I will definitely spend the money again. It took about 4 or 5 dips in wax with the cloth provided to cover the 11 x 17 cutting board. It barely left a dent in the wax. It's been a week since we applied and we haven't had to reapply yet. In general, wax or oil absorbs quickly, especially the first coat, and you'll have to reapply it almost daily until the wood stops absorbing. In this case it is not. I like how long it lasts. Our family is very scrupulous about the products we let in and this product meets all of our standards. We find it convenient and even enjoyable to use on our chopping boards and cooktops. We highly recommend this. The attached picture shows a waxed cutting board and wax jar a week after application.
