I bought this when we installed a new shower enclosure. We didn't want to drill holes in the wall just yet, so we decided to walk around for a while until we knew exactly where to place the poles. I took the advice to thoroughly clean the wall with rubbing alcohol before attaching the suction cups. (I used a small wrench flat that I placed on top of the rod before installing the second suction cup to make it straight.) It's very easy to install and has never come off the wall before. It may need to be repositioned at some point, but it took a couple of months. Rust spots are now visible on the paintwork. I don't know if it's peeling off or seeping out from under the cover, but the end closest to the shower (not really in a straight line where it gets really wet) is badly chipped. It's not very rough or anything, it's not flaky, just very patchy. It does a great job, but if long-term beauty is important to you, you might want to think twice. For the price I don't think it's bad.
