I bought this to compare to the $60 samsung case. There is a quality difference. The Samsung case feels premium and more durable. This coating has an outer surface that is soft to the touch. The Samsung feels more plasticky and has a pattern that's actually more secure in the hand. The pen holder inside the Samsung is also made of thicker plastic. But in general, in terms of usability, there isn't much of a difference. All of the magnets feel strong and the two-stage hinge system works well. A fantastic alternative considering the price!
