I was very disappointed that it couldn't be mounted on one of my standard (laminate/formica) worktops! Of course, it was my own fault for not paying close attention to the specified size of the clamping hole. I swear the info says the hole was 1.5 inches, but it's actually only 1.2 inches. lol Of course all my countertops are over 1.5 inches thick. :/ I'm pretty sure the end of the clamp screw is glued on, so I can't take it off to match the thickness of my countertop. I was also hoping to remove the clamp screw so I could attach it to a good camera tripod I already have, so that was disappointing too. It seems very well made, which is why I was only discussing removing a star or two (or any at all) due to an issue with the size of the bracket holes, as stated in the description. However, since others have commented the same thing, and from what I've been able to find, a 1.5" thickness is fairly standard for laminate countertops (at least in the US), I think manufacturers could take that into account when designing, especially when they consider this like other factors to make it better than other wig clips. That aside, the clamp appears to be very well made overall (much better than the one that came with the shutter blind head). I bought it (I even thought it would match my counters). It will probably take quite a long time.
