Real leather usually doesn't last as long and doesn't look as nice as higher quality leather. Products labeled as genuine leather are multiple layers of lower quality leather held together with glue and then dyed to look like higher quality leather. That's what's left when other, higher degrees are discarded. This quality of leather is acceptable if you just buy something cheap and don't care too much about the quality. It won't last very long, so it's probably not something you should use every day.
