UPDATE: We finally got our boy pictured here to the vet in a carrier. Up until now we have left him open in the house so that when we take him outside he won't be scared of him. The special thing about this carrier is that the flaps can be raised or lowered from all sides. At first, when they put him in a wheelchair and in a car, he cried a lot. We opened all the doors thinking it would help him but no. It just made him cry a lot. So we lower the flaps back and...... no crying He immediately calmed down and was silent the whole time. We've had other porters, but most don't close the windows. It was the first time we were able to transport him without him crying all the time. If I could give this one more stars I would. Oh, and it's easy to transport too, although it also has wheels and a handle. We used to carry it around the house to understand the weight, but this time we carried it much further and it wasn't heavy at all. This is an impressive pet carrier. Our cats range in size from 16 to 18 pounds. To give you an idea of the size, our black boy sitting in the stretcher weighs 16 pounds. The hallmark of this carrier is its versatility. You don't have to use the wheelbase if you don't want to. Pages are good and solid. No collapse of sides and roof. The roof itself has 2 layers. You can leave the mesh closed, but the outer flap can be folded back or left on the mesh with Velcro. The inner floor is just a closed piece of hardboard, so you should probably add something soft to the floor if you want underfloor heating. There's plenty of room to add his favorite blanket or shirt to snuggle into. I even left it on so they could get in and out on their own so they wouldn't be scared if we had to use it for travel. The wheelbase attaches with Velcro to the underside of the trunk itself. You can worry about it, but don't. This is a really strong velcro. It doesn't start if you don't want it. The handle conveniently slides into the wheelbase when you don't want to use it, but pops out just as quickly. Very happy with this carrier.
