Review on 🩹 Medium Pro Tec Athletics Ankle Wrap: Enhancing Support and Comfort by Justin Sherman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Pro Tec is the wrong size!

I'm giving this three stars to start with because I immediately notice that the ankle brace offers a moderate level of support and protection for which it was designed; However, Pro Tec got the sizing wrong (that's why I checked). Be careful if you're in between sizes or have wide feet. Haven't fully tested the ankle braces but just opened the box and yes, the Pro Tec definitely fell short of sizing (as mentioned in a previous review). I wear Nike trainers size 10.5 (medium width) and I CANNOT fit the medium size. I ordered both medium and large just in case. Maybe I'll go back to medium size (or maybe just keep it for my little boys). Please be sure to order the next size up if you are within a size of a 'tween' or two. Based on the density of average size, I would say that average size for men up to size 10 (but no more) is best. If you have wide feet and a size 9 or 9.5, you should seriously consider going up. For me (width 10.5D) the large size was just right. If you are a size 12/13 or larger you may not have much luck with these pieces as the neoprene is too tight. It is best to use these ankle bandages directly on your feet immediately and put your sock ON the bandage. I've noticed that the velcro straps aren't as "sticky" as other velcro straps (and smaller) on other braces/bandages. If you use this tape on the outside of the sock I'm afraid the velcro will come loose or loosen. One improvement Pro-Tec can make is to straighten the velcro straps with more material. They don't have to be triangular (I don't know the mechanical meaning of that). I will give braces. Have a good test drive over the next few weeks and more comments and feedback - stay tuned. Again this band is rated for moderate to medium support (similar to Tru-Fit and/or McDavid and the adjustable ankle band from my previous review and comments). Yes, it offers some support and protection for non-contact sports (like tennis), but it does not offer level 3 (or highest/maximum) support and protection.
