Review on Burt's Bees Acne Pore Refining Scrub - Pack of 3, 4-Ounce Tubes: Effective Skincare for Acne & Smoother Pores by Jessica Moodley

I originally bought this product for my daughter who is in her teens and is starting to get clogged pores and breakouts. She didn't really like it and didn't like the oily residue it left on her skin after using it. I like to use an exfoliant every now and then to keep my complexion looking fresh, so I gave it a try. I am 38 years old, my skin is combination skin although it does get oily in warm weather. However, my skin is also very sensitive and if the product is too dry or too harsh, my skin reacts very dry and flaky. I get pimples occasionally, but it's not a big problem for me. However, salicylic acid is not only used for skin care, but also for the treatment of acne. It is excellent for exfoliating the dead layer of the epidermis, stimulating the growth of new cells and generally improving the quality of moisture retention by younger skin cells on the surface. I find the exfoliation does a good job of restoring my skin's radiance without causing irritation and the slight residue seems to sink into my skin within minutes of washing my face, preventing my face from feeling tight or overly dry afterwards. I don't even need to use lotion, there's plenty of it, I just put a little cream around the eye area and it's good. The residue soaks in that I can't feel it at all after about 5 minutes and I can even apply mineral makeup powder without streaks or crusting which are signs of oil on your skin. I like the smell, it smells like aspirin, which is salicylic acid. I smell the active ingredient. :) The fact that there is a residue tells me that the salicylic acid is there too and after a minute or two of massaging in an exfoliant it continues to do its job of exfoliating and bringing new cells to the surface. My skin seems to retain moisture better and is more even and radiant for days after using the scrub. I would recommend it to older women who have issues with ash or other scrubs that are too harsh. The particles in this scrub are very delicate. One star off because it wasn't quite right for the audience it was made for and the price was a little painful. It feels like I'm overpaying just for the brand and I never like it.
