This is NOT your brown grocery bag. This is a strong kraft paper / almost thin cardboard. Handles - Tapes. You are strong. They have a drawstring at the top so they don't slip through the holes in the pocket. The bag is well made. The bottom is well bonded and seems secure enough. I am sensitive to smells. You can give me asthma. I am glad that these bags have NO foreign smell. I can detect a faint trace of cardboard odor in the immediate vicinity. That's practically on the bag with my nose. Otherwise they are very odorless. These are great simple gift bags. Universal. 12 of them make it, so I'll have one on hand for a while. I also have a daughter who is getting married and they would make great gift bags for bridesmaid gifts or shower favors.
