I bought this extra large sisal rug to keep my big boys from dominating my sofa and it worked. Boys love the texture and use it all the time to fall asleep and sleep through the night. A good shake will remove cat hair as well as residual dirt etc. However, after almost 3 months of continuous use, dirt was building up so I figured it was time to visit the washing machine. Although the rug did not provide specific washing instructions, Revain's description clearly stated that it could be machine washed in warm water and air dried. Now I'll say my washer and dryer isn't a new premium set, but it does the job for me. Not so with this sisal mat. Not only did the cat soil not come out, but the mat also partially detached from the substrate and turned into a complete mess. Very disappointing! Also, I notice that the velcro that came with the blanket was machine sewn on at the top and since I didn't need it I spent the whole evening removing it stitch by stitch. For all my life I do not know how it should be used as it was due. Obviously I'm starting to look for a better replacement for this $30 junk product!
