So let's talk about what I like about this printer. The print quality is excellent and I am very impressed with the speed at which the pages scroll. My daughter constantly has to print out worksheets for school. The main problem is that our house is very small, so the printer is in the living room next to the TV. So when my 16-year-old has to print, my 19-month-old won't hear "Mickey Mouse Club," and you might think that's the end of the world. On our old printer it would take her so long to print everything my little one would lose. Now this printer is not only a million times faster, but also prints double-sided, so it uses less paper. What used to take minutes now takes seconds and I'm very pleased. We downloaded the software to each of our computers and we were able to print from each computer without any problems. We had a little trouble setting up the scanner function, but the copier was very easy. Now for the not so good ones. Every printer I've ever bought came with ink. You put ink cartridges in when you set up your printer, and during setup it uses anywhere from a tiny fraction to about half the ink. Then you have a cartridge to print whatever you want. Now to this particular printer. If you read the listing, it doesn't say anything special about inks other than that you must use official Epson inks. When the ink arrives, all instructions say that this cartridge is for setup and first print only. So I figured the initial print meant what it does to all other printers. Initial prints are using what is left in the cartridge after installation. NO. That means setup and then maybe 1 or 2 pages or whatever you load into the printer for the first time. After you have spooled your first set of items or scanned about 2 pages or unplugged the printer after setup to move it to a new location, you are done. When you turn the printer back on or try to print a second job, you get a huge error message on the screen stating that a single page won't print until you put in new cartridges. Why am I really upset about this? I will tell you. When you buy something, you expect it to be a useful product in the condition in which it is delivered. Something that doesn't come out of the box will warn you everywhere. Things like batteries that are not included are always listed on the product. You don't expect a cellphone to come without a charger because if you can't charge it, how are you going to use it? So how the heck can you use a printer without ink? On the other hand, if Epson just capitalized it on the INK NOT INCLUDED box, and also capitalized it on the list here on Revain, it would be a very different story. However, you didn't state this anywhere until you opened the box. That means the first time you realize you can't print is when you've already purchased the item and set it up. So now you have to either go back online, buy the ink and wait another 2-5 days for it to arrive, or go back to the store after you're already home and hope they're still open. Overall the printer is amazing, it works great. . I highly recommend this printer for large jobs or jobs that need to be done quickly and efficiently. However, this whole ink thought comes across as false advertising or bait. Who on earth would expect ink to be included and something you have to do as part of a setup, but then... just kidding, you really can't use it. Epson, you really need to add wording that says no ink is included.
