Review on Timbuk2 Blink Pack Black Size: Your Perfect Travel Companion by Julie Watkins

Surprisingly durable

I only recently bought this backpack for cycling because my old Swissgear was showing its age and newcomer style. I needed a new bag mainly for clothes, towels, laptop and other small things needed for work. First impressions: Comfortable for its size, looks good, the pseudo-clamshell design is great for what I need, and a great water bottle holder to top it off. Unfortunately, I was only able to take this bag to work twice. On the second day of my now much easier commute to work, I had a bicycle accident that ended up in the hospital over the weekend. At the corner I was hit by a car traveling at about 40 km/h. While my ribs and sternum cracked under the pressure and my legs buckled at the thought of walking anytime soon, this backpack stood the test. The ER even had to cut my straps because the form fitting and comfortable body attachment points were too strong for my now fractured sternum. This backpack has also protected my laptop through it all. I have a 15" Dell XPS glass and metal laptop and it came out of this test with a slightly dented corner when the package hit the ground at full speed. No broken glass, just a small dent on a pretty solid laptop. I can hardly find the spot where this collision happened as the material of the backpack has held up very well without even punching a hole in the main compartment. on a mid-size van at any time in the future. I would still use it but it no longer has straps so it's just a glorified handbag now.
