The recommended sizes don't seem right to me

While the style is good and the directions seem appropriate, I am unsure of the sizing. I cut the pattern as "large" based on waist and hip measurements, but the pants appear cavernous. Except for "a bit baggy". I did my best to make up for it in hindsight and at least get something wearable. But if I try this pattern again, I might go down a size.
