"wood" piece feels like balsa wood (it's not, but crappy anyway). Hooks simply hang on the product like a coat hanger on a rail. You need to drill two holes in the wall at exactly the right height and distance from each other, insert the plastic wall anchors, screw the screws into the anchors, and then position the part over those two screws with great precision - leaving the screw behind part are hidden and were not visible from the front (obviously). It's not as easy as drilling a screw through a hole in the front - you need a pencil and ruler, which is a headache. I didn't like this unit at all. Very thin and difficult to install. A star.
