The balaclava comes out but what you have is a very thin material that is of no value to a dog. The balaclava does not fit well and only covers part of the dog's back. The 24 inch length was acceptable, even a bit short for my doberman mix, but the coat was too big and not adjustable. The 2 threaded straps that go around the back legs are very loose and unusable. The part that goes in the front and under the bust is very loose and hangs down about 4 inches so it doesn't feel warm. The bottom is also too long, which prevents the dog from urinating. The strap that was supposed to allow me to tighten the coat around my torso doesn't have much adjustment at all. Poor design, lack of adjustments and inferior materials make this dog jacket useless. It doesn't even look pretty on him. The product image makes this coat feel plush and warm, but it lacks the plush factor.
