I had to modify this coat as follows: First I asked the tailor to add a hole at the base of the neck for my dog's leash as he wears a harness. Second, I asked them to add a zipper at the bottom instead of the buttons they had there. Third, I cut them off about an inch to give his dog more room to pee on the fur. I live in Minnesota, it's December now. The coat is too thin to protect really well as it shivers in the cold. So underneath this larger coat I added a second smaller coat that I found at Petsmart. Glad this coat looks great on my little deer-headed chihuahua! Unfortunately, my dog hates wearing a hat that covers his ears to keep them warm and he absolutely refused to wear boots (he started limping outside as the ground was cold). The coat is nice, kinda warm but not warm enough. Also, there should be two types of this coat: one for females (it covers most of the abdomen and therefore keeps them warm), and the other is basically similar to this for males.
