If you have ATH-M50 or similar headphones and your ears start to hurt after a few hours, you've probably landed here. And if so, then you should stop reading and buy this already. They are exactly what you need. But if you need more info, here it is: I bought both this and the replacement Brainwavz HM5 Velor Memory Foam ear pads - fits many other large in-ear headphones - AKG, HifiMan, ATH, Philips and Fostex models. I wore them for several hours each time. Both were about equally comfortable after a few hours of wear. My ears had enough room to fit in the ear cups. Each model is much more comfortable than the standard models and your ears will thank you. I ended up going for the velor pads because they were a bit more comfortable after prolonged use (over 2 hours). In particular, they kept a little cooler than faux leather (this one) which gets a little hotter. I don't really like the feel/look of velor in general so I started with leather but they end up not being that bad. I also find that the memory foam version looks cooler than the velor, comfort won out for me. Again, both are still very comfortable and I still have the leather pads as a spare. The differences are very subtle and you'll probably still be very happy if you prioritize style/care over comfort. this) version looks smoother and less dusty considering the nature of the finish. In general, they are easier to keep clean. They also feel a bit softer and if you're like me you feel better overall. The "velour" version cools the ears a little after wearing it for a long time, but doesn't feel quite as soft when you put it on for the first time. (they have less "give" to the material). The "memory foam" version is a little thicker, giving you a little more room for your ears. Ultimately, both are good choices and orders of magnitude better. / More comfortable than the standard ear pads found on most headphones. Finally, other reviews note that the sound changes with these pads. It's true, but you won't notice it after an hour or so. It's not a bad change, it's just a "different" kind of change. Put simply, the headphones still sound clean and you can still get the same amount of bass out of them with some EQ adjustments if you want to. Isolation also suffers, but I tested it in a fairly quiet room so I didn't see a significant difference. Also, there isn't much of a difference between velor and memory foam models in terms of tonal change. Anyway, I couldn't tell any difference between the two Brainwavz pads.
