Bought for the windows in the southwest of our house, after the tree was removed, three rooms turned into a greenhouse. It has worked wonders so far. We have privacy again and these rooms are now much cooler during the day. They're also darker, of course, which is why we only used these on one side of the house. Otherwise it would be like a cloudy day all the time. From the outside, the windows look dark. There's no glare even when the sun hits them directly, which passing cars are sure to appreciate. The application was pretty easy. It's a job for two, that's for sure. One person can do it, but it's very annoying. Having that extra pair of hands to hold everything in place makes everything so much easier and helps keep the scolding glass empty. With the right tools, the hardest part is finding the edge to start peeling off the protective layer. All I did to prepare was clean the windows with a scraper (a few drops of paint on the edges of the windows), clean the windows with Invisible. glass, and finish the back of the window with putty on the windows it was on. The installation consisted of measuring the windows, cutting the film about 2.5cm in both directions and sealing just the window (not the back of the film as instructed) with the solution from the Gila window film installation kit spray which I used instead soapy water because I have minerals in my tap water by peeling off the protective film and sticking the film to the window and then spraying the film on the outside to make it easier to rub off. From there it's all about getting air bubbles and trimming to fit. I started with new utility knife blades but found that the blade from the Gila kit gave the best results. Each window lasted about twenty minutes from start to finish.
