Review on Platinum Shoulder Lykus Backpack with Added Resistance by Lynn Hans

Lykus M1 is the best drone carrying case for Mavic Air 2/Mini

I spent $25 for a lightweight case for my Mavic Mini. I've been drooling over quality hard cases (one of these arrived this weekend and will be back for this bag). This week, before there were good hard cases for my new Mavic Air 2, this one popped up in my search. Now I have one for each drone. This new drone bag reminds me of the hard carry case I've had for 25 years. Expect it to be under $60, and the Hart is $400, which I regretted for a while, but it held up. The nylon webbing is real, strong and protective, no fake on similar bags, I have a few of those too. All sewn with double or triple stitching, the ends of the zip are reinforced to protect against ejection. Hardware is all metal. It can be a backpack or bag with enough straps that even this 300+ pound person can carry on their back or over their shoulder. Fakes say so. I've also had many DSLR cases that cost more. It fucking beats them in quality. All outer walls are rigid but padded, the main spoilers surrounding the central area of the drone are rigidly padded. Thus there is support even if something heavy or very heavy is placed on the bag. You can put several suitcases on it and the drone will be safe. It's waterproof but not sealed, but comes with a waterproof case. If you're hiking in bad weather I'd take some scotch. One of the main problems with even the best hard cases is that they cut holes in the foam that lock in exactly what you think they have, often from a factory kit. This one doesn't suggest. It fits a drone the size of a Mavic Pro but fits my Air 2 perfectly. Space for my phone, my collision lights, filters, 4 batteries etc. Then there are two large pockets inside that protect your tablet from everything down to the most crushing weight where it's wedged between the internal supports and the front cover. On the outside there are big pockets for GOODIES. In my case, my collapsible landing pad. What I would change: 1) The luggage strap is very narrow and I'm not sure if it goes the ENTIRE width of the carry handles. (but you could think of straps. 2) The zippers are a bit narrower than the pockets because they are reinforced, so I couldn't put my landing pad in the inside pocket. I wouldn't want to loosen them up, but maybe wrap them around the end of the bag so they're strong and run the full width of the bag. 3) Front flap/pocket attached with velcro only. It's a good velcro strap but I would have preferred the belt clip used on top of the backpack belt kit. That's all. It's not waterproof. I wouldn't stand for it. But maybe you could. But if you don't ship or check your drone with an airline during the trip. It's better than any hard case for all other travel needs. And much more convenient. I suspect these cases will outlive several drones. And be with me in 25 years. It's so well done.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • For the old
