Interesting that they are made of bamboo because the two types of pads are completely different. The black feels like cotton t-shirts, the gray feels like fleece. The grays are softer and seem to work a little better for me, but they're both effective at removing makeup. I use makeup remover with them and they work better than just water, especially if the makeup is waterproof or has a lot of sunscreen in it. After drying your face, you can see the makeup on the pad and in the water when you wash it off. I put them in a garment bag after use (I keep the clean ones in a bag) and toss them with my regular underwear and they feel great. They work a little better than disposables in my opinion and are obviously more eco-friendly (and cheaper in the long run!). I love and recommend them, especially for use with makeup removers.
