My daughter (5 years) asked for a locket so she could have a photo of me with her when she was at school. She has been wearing it for a week now and has had no problems so far. You can tell the quality is on par with a $10 locket but I didn't want to buy an expensive locket for a small child. The only problem was that this meant it came with a fancy gift box and it was a regular box with the company name on it.
