What am I doing wrong?

I have purchased numerous booties for my furballs. They all have twisted, fallen off. Squeeze her dewclaw. So I thought these were going to save the day. Loved the idea of 2 straps, warm lining, and the strap at top. I thought we hit the jackpot! Nope!1 minute and they were twisting and was walking on the fabric, which ripped that fast. How tight do they have to be? It was already tight, she didn't like it.
