I poured two part epoxy into the cable opening after closing to keep it from falling apart, then shrunk it and it kept working. I used it to make my own Hifiman HE400i/s and Hifiman Supermini DAP balanced headphone cable. Did the job and cost a few percent of what the manufacturer's cable sells for.
