Disgusting video quality, totally unusable.

I ordered two of these cameras for videography - I needed cameras that could be lost or damaged without going over budget. The quality doesn't have to be great, just ok .Since these cameras claimed 1080p resolution I figured they couldn't be that bad so I gave them a try.Let's start with the good - they have an LCD screen so you can see what you're recording .- Camera menu and settings are very simple. Navigation, and the camera is generally easy to use. - Comes with a few accessories that seem to be of decent quality. Now for the bad - the quality of the camera is terrible. We're talking about the quality you'd expect from a home camcorder from the 1980's Forget the advertised 1080p or 720p resolutions, it can record in an odd variant of that resolution, but it is not recording resolution at all. The recording resolution that you actually get, rather than what's recorded, seems closer to 240p. This is no exaggeration. My old Sony TRV80 480i camera looks a lot sharper when upscaled to 720p than this one. It should also be noted that the aspect ratio you are dealing with on this camera is around 4:3. So if you upscale the image to 16:9 you will end up cropping the image closer to 180p. No, that's not a typo, I meant 180p, not 1080p. Aside from the poor resolution, the colors are just awful; Aside from not even remotely capturing what colors they actually are, the colors they actually capture are a complete mess. All edges have horrible fringing, making the edges of everything look like dancing rainbows. Well, maybe an absolutely awful, totally useless quality is something you can live with. All you need is a camera with a large field of view. Well, again you will be disappointed. Despite claims that this camera has a 140-degree field of view, this is definitely not the case. At least not in video mode (photo mode not checked). The actual field of view appears to be closer to 50-70 degrees. Conclusion: This camera can be a good toy for a child. Also, I can't imagine how it could be of any use to anyone with its really terrible picture quality.
