**Dangerous Item** Railing Leaves Unsafe Gap

My daughter is 7 months old and has slept in our bed since the day she came home. I understand that the product description says this item is for toddler beds, but let's be realistic and understand that many bed sharing parents are looking for options to make an adult bed safe. This rail is designed for a large double bed. Which baby has a king size bed? Saying this is a crib item is CYA language! Anyway, in a nutshell, my daughter rolls and crawls now. I wanted a railing on my side of the bed for the rare occasions when I need to get up while she's sleeping (potty breaks, etc.). Murphy's Law guarantees that at some point in my absence she will wake up and stand up. I was happy to receive this railing as I thought it would be the perfect solution to my problem but when my husband installed the railing I was very disappointed. The rail is attached to both ends of the structure, but there is nothing in the middle of the rail to hold the rails firmly against the mattress. If an infant or young child, for whom the product is intended, rolls into the gap between the mattress and rails, there is a risk that they will become entangled in the mattress and suffocate. I told my husband that it would be better for our daughter to fall out and hit the floor than to roll into a crevice and quietly choke! He's a very handy guy and did everything he could think of to secure the railing, but we ended up just taking it off and putting it back on. real defeat. If this was designed with a tie point in the middle of the railing to secure the middle of the rail that would be great! I'm just glad I only ordered one side to try before ordering the other two splints. I can't imagine this being a safe product for any age.
