Review on Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader - LRW400CRBNA: High-Speed Data Transfer and Multi-Card Compatibility by Jeremy Romero

Great dual card reader for professionals

I'm a professional wedding photographer who takes thousands of RAW photos every week and imports them to my iMac. I use CF and SD cards on two Canon 5D IV bodies. I bought this device because my previous Transcend multi-card reader kept breaking. Sometimes he read, sometimes not. This Transcend card reader was a weak device that with a swipe of its USB cable caused my iMac to not read the device. Fast forward to this little beauty and I haven't had any issues like this in almost a year of use. The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 card reader is reliable, fast, and stable. It is made of hard plastic; it connects instantly to my iMac and Macbook Pro when plugged in; transfers files from both CF and SD cards very quickly, even via USB 2.0; it can be closed when not in use to keep the connectors from being exposed to dust; and moving the USB cable while in use will not cause file transfer errors since the reader itself does not move. My previous Transcend reader was so thin and light that it couldn't stand upright, so a truly secure USB connection was rare. Meanwhile, the Lexar Professional is built well enough to rest on a rubber base and not move when the USB cable is moved. This ensures that your Lexar always stays connected to its port until you disable it. Overall, although this device is more expensive than other multi-card readers, it is very reliable for professional use. I highly recommend! A NOTICE. Several reviewers have given negative ratings to this card reader, claiming that it corrupts files. Another reason I replaced my cheap and unreliable Transcend multi-card reader is because I thought it was causing file corruption. After getting the Lexar Professional Reader, I imported the files to my iMac, only to see the horror: more corrupted files (as seen in other reviewers' negative posts). I then concluded that my USB port might be the culprit. I switched to a different USB port on my computer and the issue was resolved. I have had no such problems in almost a year of operation. It turned out that the problem was a bad USB port on my iMac, not the card reader. This was just my experience, but it may also be the cause of other users' confusion.
