There is nothing wrong with Canon SL3 SLR cameras. I often buy cameras, keep them for a year, and then often upgrade (I travel for a living). They have always let me down (including Canon) in terms of performance. Now there's another Canon SL series camera (I thought the Sl1 and SL2 were boring and cheap) called the SL3. It will continue to be offered in a flashy "white" variant, as well as in a classic black case. I'm not going to list all the specs here (you can read them for yourself by visiting the Canon website), but I'll leave it at the basic question. I bought two of these (one on release day and the other from Revain). Let's go straight to the processor (DIGIC 8). This is a rocket ship processor for speed and lighting. Dark cupboards, no flash, no tripod etc. etc., everything still produced bright photos when I tested the newly purchased SL3. To be honest, I used a SanDisk Extreme Pro 300MG card for speed, but this card had nothing to do with lighting. I also used the L-series IS lens, which was the real reason for the excellent lighting conditions. The camera body is made in Taiwan. Mostly plastic and very light. The body grip is amazing. The so-called KIT lens (18-55mm) doesn't meet the performance requirements, but is a great lightweight and inexpensive lens if weight is a concern. SL3 supports both EF-S and EF lenses. As I travel and carry too much gear I wanted Canon to come up with an awesome point and shoot system. You are not. Next comes SL3 (red flags after SL1 and SL2). Have I ever been wrong? I was so glad I tried SL3. Light. Even with a basic set of lenses (F4 18-55mm lens) made mostly of plastic, it excels at any point-and-shoot task. Plus only £2 for the body and lens with battery. It was a performance BMW, although cheap, all plastic, and a bit unreliable at times for the switches and controls. This is not a Canon 6D Mark II or 5D IV. Not even close. But be aware of the costs. Watch the weight. Basically, think of the great Digic 8 processor. So impressive. Nice choice. In fact, I find the price a bit low. Canon was successful with SL3.
