Review on ViewSonic VG2765 Ergonomic Monitor - 2560X1440P DisplayPort LCD by Sergio Villarreal

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice. Decent monitor with subpar instructions and poor control labeling

The ViewSonic VG2765 27" WQHD 1440p Ergonomic Monitor comes with AC power cord (no power adapter required), Mini DP to DP cable, USB 3.0 upstream cable and VESA mount with stand. Oddly enough, a standard HDMI -Cable not included. Although the monitor has a standard HDMI connector, I had to use my own HDMI cable (more on that in a moment). No problem. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver. This took a maximum of five minutes Unfortunately the printed manual is terrible (the manual downloaded from the Viewsonic website is better but still doesn't show the location and function of the controls) There are two cheaply printed brochures One has short and very incomplete instructions on how to set up and operate. The other is nothing more than a tiny circuit diagram with little or no English text, various settings and buttons on the monitor in a printed or down downloaded manual. Ashamed! Worse, even though the monitor controls are at the bottom of the monitor, the instructions don't say anything about them. There are symbols on the bezel (gray on black for a loud shout!), and the symbols are generic and don't indicate what the buttons do. This became an issue when trying to connect the ViewSonic VG2765 to my Asus Windows 10 computer. The monitor showed Windows 10 starting to load, but then it said "no signal" and went blank. I thought maybe the resolution wasn't right (Viewsonic recommends 2560 x 1140 pixels for a monitor). However, thank God for the callous and cold heart of Microsoft, I couldn't find a way to change the PC's resolution without fully booting into Windows. And of course it wasn't possible due to download problems. Classic Catch-22! At first there seemed to be no immediate help from Viewsonic. Turned out on their support site that you can't seem to reach them, you can't even chat with support. You can submit the form and expect a response within 48 hours. It just doesn't fit. Although I couldn't find a support number on their website, ViewSonic does have a support number for the United States. (Google will help you with this. The support number is also listed below in the setup guide. Uh-huh!) I called this number and spoke to a helpful support rep. She suggested that I replace the HDMI cables (remember this cable is not included - I had to supply my own cable). I did what she asked and everything was fine. The problem was due to a bad HDMI cable. After changing the cable, I was able to fully boot into Windows 10. Also, I found that the OSD (OSD) menu works properly after connecting the PC correctly. This allowed me to fine-tune some of the monitor's internal settings. My anemic computer did not support the recommended 2560x1440 resolution. The best my poor PC could do was 2048x1152. Installing the ViewSonic monitor driver for Windows 10 didn't help either. However, the 2048 x 1152 resolution was spot on for what I wanted to do with this PC and the image quality was more than acceptable. All in all, this is a very good monitor. The ViewSonic VG2753 offers a large field of view, excellent viewing angles and more than acceptable color reproduction even before calibration. If only ViewSonic had better instructions and more common sense when labeling controls, this review could have earned a five star rating.
