I bought this for the extended kitchen counter and cabinets in my kitchen. Rather than. I had to rewrite the outlet and move it to the back where the stove is, I was able to place this retractable plug where it would be most useful. I didn't have a shovel, but for the size of hole I needed, I used a 1" paddle bit to make holes around the perimeter in line with the outside edge. I used a larger regular drill bit to make it bigger and then used it to go over the inside of the hole to smooth it out. A grinding wheel will do, but I didn't have one. This is very useful without wasting counter space or looking ugly. I definitely love it!
