Review on Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera Body (Kit Box) - No Lens Included, International Version with No Warranty by Ada Dymowska ᠌

Not a bad purchase, worth the money.

Some here are crying, they say, "the battery runs out quickly" . I found out on my own skin that it needs to be "rocked": - 1 charge was enough for 50-60 frames and 10-15 minutes of video; - 2 charges were enough for 100 frames and 20-25 minutes of video; - 3-4 charges made it possible to shoot 550 frames and 50 minutes of video. So don't expect 500 shots on a single charge as promised in the manual right after purchase :) from 01/22/2022: A week ago I switched to Nikon D90. Ergonomics is a hundred times better. If the weight, dimensions, slight difference in price and slightly more modest video shooting capabilities do not bother you, feel free to take the D90 instead of the D3100.

Pros
  • 0) Shooting on the machine Even with automatic settings, interesting shots are obtained if you do not use the built-in flash. 1) Price It's not a pity to lose (in comparison with older brothers D90, D300, D700). 2) Dimensions You can take it with you anywhere. 3) Video With manual focus - very good for home and amateur shooting. 4) Selecting AF Points It is convenient to select focus points using the joystick. 5) Ergonomics Everything you need is at hand.
Cons
  • 1) Viewfinder Very small. For a beginner it will do, for manual focusing with old lenses - small and dark. 2) Autofocus Sometimes, in room lighting, autofocus on the side points blunts, it's annoying that the moment is running out. 3) No built-in autofocus motor Autofocus only works with G lenses. 4) Battery Temporarily out of stock, spare batteries will have to be taken from abroad or wait for them to appear in stores.

The shooting process is exciting. It is difficult to stop buying additional accessories, you want a lot, and this hobby is not cheap. Of course I want the D700, but for now I have what I have. Took in December 10th for 19990.
