Review on SRAM Supercork Bicycle Bar Tape: The Ultimate Grip and Comfort Solution by Jeff Kern

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best tape at a good price

I bought this handlebar tape to wrap the grips on my road bike. I used to love using lizard leather for cushions and clutches, but to be honest, it became too expensive for me. I couldn't pay more than $30 for a steering wheel reupholstery. By browsing and reading other reviews SRAM seemed to have the best product for the price and being the leader in cycling gear I was pretty sure the product would be quality. I wrapped the handlebars with this SRAM tape. The tape has an adhesive that holds the wrapper in place as it is being wrapped and provides adhesion to the next layer. When you're done, this tape looks amazingly professional and the ease of use is superb. This tape gives a very soft touch and is very non-slip. This case also came with an extra palm pad to wrap around the grip, but I would recommend using the available gel pads for extra padding. You will also receive a strip of decorative ribbon and rod ends. My only complaint about this band is the same as the others. Please add 12 inches more wrap so we don't have to rewind when we are 2 inches shorter than we wanted. The same applies to the finishing band, one turn around the bars is not enough. I always have to use black tape to finish the wrapping. These complaints are consistent with all other bandages I have used so this does not detract from my 5 star rating of the band. In my opinion this tape is the best bar tape for the price. Lizard skin is also very good, but since I first used it, it has gotten too expensive. I did not receive any discounts or free products in exchange for my review. I just want to help others make the right purchasing decision.
