I haven't encountered needles but I have found that some fabrics wear out a bit after sewing. I have had this machine for over 10 years and have sewn very heavy upholstery many times so no wonder the blades have dulled. It was very easy to change, which saved me the cost of maintaining the machine. Fingers crossed they last as long as the original blades.
